I\'m here to say that if it\'s not the best, it\'s definitely among the best.', 'This is Prospect\'s commercial area, which could be laid out a bit better. Actually, it\'s not so much Prospect\'s town design that is unique...', '... as its unique mix of Modernist, traditional, and just far-out architecture. Miami Art Deco on the Colorado Front Range, anyone?', 'More commercial, including live/work units.', 'Live/work courtyard.', '', 'Carolyn Dooling was, once again, my partner in crime and planner/guide extraordinaire.', 'Moving now from the commercial and live/work to residential.', 'Modernist townhomes.', 'And the colors and designs just get quirkier and quirkier--and better and better, too!', '', '', '', 'Moving now mostly to single-family homes.', 'Except perhaps on this one....', 'A real mix of architecture: this could be New England meets the Heartland, all in one house.', '', 'In addition to a wide range of architectural styles, there\'s a wide range of building materials and features, too.', 'An alley for single-family homes and townhomes.', '', '', 'I was impressed and inspired by how well the modern designs work in the New Urban context.', 'Which leads me to ask: Why aren\'t more NU communities doing the same?', '', '', 'Another alley.', '', 'This is a live/work building kind of near the commercial area.  More will be built around it.', '', 'The delivery van of a local business, with new construction in the background (and the back of the 4-story live/work we just saw).', 'More live/work.', '', 'Such great angles, colors, and contrasts.', 'I think this red beauty is listed at $900,000 or so.  It has a carriage house, as many homes in Prospect do.', '', '', '', 'And many homes have a Plains lineage, in a sense, as well.', 'I suppose if you live in a house like this, you need a car that likewise reflects a certain showiness.', 'Or perhaps a great car like this is only satisfied with an intriguing house behind it?', '', '', 'One of Prospect\'s more colorful alleys, but then again, there are many of those.', '', 'We were able to sneak up to the third floor of a house under construction for the next couple photos.', '', 'As with Civano, where I live, I have a problem with the exposed electric utility boxes, etc. Surely there\'s a solution for hiding or more integrating those?', 'The only front-loaded (or side-loaded, depending on your angle) single-family home we saw.', '', 'A large, dug-out basement area becomes a below-grade deck.', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', 'We did find a few instances where the colors were just off enough to seem like an error, as with these stairs.', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', 'After visiting the newer sections of the neighborhood, we walked through the older sections, beginning with these town homes.', '', '', 'There was a real mix of modern and traditional homes, including some Charleston houses and more traditional Southern Colonial styles like this.', 'Some work better than others; this one falling short, in my humble opinion.', '', 'Near the center of Prospect, the landscaping has grown in nicely, but I have one major problem here: Why are cottonwoods planted as street trees?', 'The Rib House, a corner restaurant reflective of old Longmont or older Denver neighborhoods.', '', '', '', 'So back to the cottonwoods: they\'re big water guzzlers and will heave the sidewalks without doubt.', '', '', 'I suppose silver maples have their problems, too, but I prefer them.', 'And white birches, perhaps?', '', '', 'One of my favorite smaller homes in the neighborhood.', '', 'This stone-paved walkway serves as a kind of courtyard, too, to reach a handful of homes along Prospect\'s northern edge.', '', '', '', '', '', 'A little seclusion among the jumble of bright and oft-competing homes.', '', 'This little psuedo-Tutor style home looks like it\'s been here the entire time. Perhaps it has?', 'The parking cutouts are an interesting approach, in lieu of on-street parking. Not convinced it\'s a better approach, though.', 'Though for some cars it\'s not a bad fit.', 'Chalk art by a young resident.', '', '', 'Townhomes along the town square.', '', 'One of the more interestingly decorated homes.', 'Bravo for the permanent bike!', '', '', 'This 3,100-square-foot, no-basement home is for sale for about $650K, if memory serves me.', '', '', 'Though there are obviously children in the neighborhood, we saw only one play structure, and I\'d say kids are more tolerated than welcomed.', '', '', 'Another one of my favorite homes, unique not only because of its architecture, but because the yard is not walled at all.', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', '', 'Back to the commercial area, these are townhomes/condos/apartments?', 'Tempted Ways Drive.
