An arroyo at the base of Franklin Mountains State Park flares to a fan of multicolored stone and golden shrubs. Surrounded by El Paso and bisected by a major highway, Franklin Mountain State Park is nonetheless one of Texas’s most diverse locations. Peaks rise over 7,100 feet, and wildlife and plants are found in this part of the Chihuahuan desert and nowhere else.
