West Texas Mountain Landscapes : 38 Photos by Simmons B. Buntin.

Considered by some to be the southernmost range of the Rocky Mountains, the Franklins rise 3,000 feet above the desert floor.  Arroyos feature a rich mix of rock and high desert grasses, while the mountains host prickly pear, agave, ocotillo, cholla, yucca, sotol, Mormon tea, and more (top and middle right).

Late afternoon view into El Paso and Juarez from Highway 375: the bajadas of the Franklin Mountains, commerce and industry along the Rio Grande, and Mexico’s Sierra Juarez on the horizon (lower right).
